PERSPECTIVES: ASHLEY NICOLE AUDETTE AND JULIE BENNETT HUME
Ashley Nicole Audette: (Playwright) is a New York-born, Missouri based playwright. Latest
productions include pink champagne (Script in Hand Winner – The Writer’s Place KC), Home
Town (KC Fringe Festival- KC Emerging Artist Award), Bird (Queens Short Play Festival Semi
Finalist), (Crashing (Fabled Fox Theatrics), Better? (LCK Productions), Lights (MITF
Summer), Second Chances (Grange Playhouse), Fishbowl (MITF Fall), Lights (Midwinter
Madness), Free Love, (Actor’s Theatre Company), Light and Dark (Distilled Theatre Company),
Happily Ever After (Short Play lab), The In-Between (Manhattan Theatre Rep), The Twisted
Cross (Perchance to Dream). Ashley is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, a past
student of ESPA and a graduate of the 24-25 Kansas City Public Theatre Playwrights Round
Table. Her play The Door is now available to be licensed through Tiny Scripted. This summer,
her play thorns will make its world premiere at the KC Fringe Festival. Ashley currently resides
in Kansas City, Missouri.
Julie Bennett Hume is a Kansas City–based folk/Americana
songwriter known for narrative lyricism, expressive vocals, and
intricately textured guitar work shaped by years immersed in roots
traditions. Her background spans Cajun bands, old-time string
ensembles, Afro-Cuban music, and early blues, informing a sound
that feels grounded, exploratory, and deeply human.
Her most recent LP, The Lorelei, marks a creative peak — a spare,
confident collection that blends myth, memory, and moral inquiry
with emotional clarity. The album was named among the top LPs in
the Kansas City area by Chris Haghirian and Mark Manning on local
radio, reflecting strong regional recognition and critical regard.
Since releasing her debut solo LP in 2016, Hume has released three
solo albums and a separate duo project, The Multiverse. She has
toured nationally and in Europe and remains deeply engaged in the
songwriting community as a board member of the Heartland Song
Network and executive producer and co-host of She Talk Wha on
KKFI.
