Lavender Studios is a grassroots, community-driven creative space dedicated to Creating Art and Reflecting Everyone (CARE).

We believe that art should be accessible, inclusive, and celebrated in all its forms: whether that’s music, visual arts, storytelling, or the many ways people express themselves.

Our roots are in the Kansas City live music and DIY scene, where we saw firsthand how powerful it can be when artists come together outside traditional galleries and venues.

Over time, Lavender Studios has grown into a hub for artists, performers, and community members who want a space that’s welcoming, affordable, and deeply supportive of diversity.

We exist for:

• Artists — especially LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and underrepresented voices — who need a stage, a wall, or a microphone to share their work.
• Community members who want to experience art up close and connect with the people who make it.
• Collaborators who believe in the power of creativity to break down barriers.

We keep our events free or low-cost whenever possible, offer discounted rentals for artists, and work on a barter-and-donation model to keep the arts accessible. Our programs range from intimate live music shows and storytelling deep-dives to workshops, art markets, and one-off educational events.

Lavender Studios isn’t just our project — it’s something we’re building together, piece by piece, with the community.
